4 days of dialogue with professionals from around the world
Focus danse is both an international forum devoted to dance and a platform for disseminating choreographic art. Encouraged by the success of the first edition in September 2008, we aim to renew and strengthen this international dance event in 2010.
Focus danse is a model of collective success in the cultural sector. Devised by the Lyon Dance Biennale and Culturesfrance, Focus danse is based on partnerships with organisations that set the standard in providing professional resources for culture, and especially for choreographic art: the National Dance Centre (CND), the National Office for the Dissemination of Artistic Works (ONDA) in Paris, and the New Cultural Agency for the Rhône-Alpes Region (NACRe) in Lyon.
From 22-26 September 2010, Focus danse with bring together in Lyon some 400 venue and festival directors from across the world, and primarily from the Middle East, Asia and Africa, invited by French embassies’ cultural departments. Four days of debates, workshops and encounters between artists and professionals will explore contemporary dance’s worldview. A tailored trail through the Lyon Dance Biennale programme will provide a snapshot of current French choreographic creation, thus offering artists an international springboard.
