The Kunsthalle Zürich ends its temporary residency at the Museum Bärengasse with a solo exhibition by the Los Angeles artist Frances Stark (born in Newport Beach, California, in 1967). Visual art and writing assume equal prominence in Starks artistic practice which includes drawings, collages, installations, videos and performances. Words, graphical elements, drawings and autobiographical references encounter literary and visual models in her works, the origins of which can vary from classical art to contemporary and subcultural genres. A complex system of textual and visual references arises in Starks work which explores both the conditions of her own creative activity as an artist and author and the integral banality of the everyday.
