Including rarely seen works, this exhibition celebrates the achievements of James Cumming (1922-1991) RSA, RSW. Cumming was a student and subsequently a tutor at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1970. Cumming was concerned with themes of human nature and universal order and his painting derives from an exacting study of form. The resulting images frequently tend to abstraction with modernist, geometric shapes and layers of colour. .
