In his photo-essays Santu Mofokeng reflects, often in black-and-white, on the world as he has been observing, living and experiencing it for thirty years.
Mofokeng connects the grand themes that control today's world and the everyday reality reflecting these themes. His oeuvre demonstrates a critical homage of the will to survive in the indomitable human mind.
Parallel to Chasing Shadows, Extra City exhibits Sharon Lockhart's subtle social portrait Podworka, fitting closely to Mofokeng's work.
During a discussion programme, the two artists will be present at Extra City . They will engage in conversations with the French art historian and critic Jean François Chevrier, among others.
