Cobra caused a revolution in the Netherlands, a breakthrough in modern art which to this day is reflected in art and artistic ideas.
The Cobra Museum for Modern Art in Amstelveen is the heritage of the international Cobra movement visible and keep the ideas of the artists of the movement alive.
The museum aims to have expertise in this area. The place where the spirit of Cobra, experimentation in art and expression are emphasized.
It transforms a crisp Cobra museum collection, art works and documentary material, which made several presentations. Cobra also be exhibitions related together, such as Cobra individual members, contemporaries and related movements. The exhibitions are regularly supplemented by a range of cultural and educational activities through which the insight into the art historical and social significance of the art movement is broadened.
The Cobra Movement stands for creative freedom and experimentation, passion and vitality and social engagement. The Cobra Museum for Modern Art, sees it as a balanced task contemporary art show in which the values and spirit of Cobra can be identified.
