(Profile only availible in french- translated by machine)
Since 1982, the collection of FRAC Languedoc-Roussillon is enriched every year with new acquisitions. It includes, in late 2007, more than 900 works by over 380 artists. It is representative of artistic creation as well as its current problems and the diversity of her mediums (painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, installation, video and multimedia).
Indicative of trends in contemporary art, Frac offers artists the opportunity to develop their action but also to raise awareness by organizing a circuit broadcast locally, nationally and internationally.
The works in the collection are presented in temporary exhibitions in the premises of Frac or "outside the walls" at the initiative of the Director or in response to requests from institutions, cultural organizations, government agencies and communities form of loans or deposits. Projects are reviewed by the Director, which validates the loans or deposits according to their interest.
The commissioner shall manage and proper preservation of the collection and transmission of information regarding their conditions of work and presentation.
The Acquisitions Committee is composed of experts in contemporary art (directors of institutions, art critics, independent curators, etc.), the Director of FRAC and in an advisory capacity, a representative of the Department of Culture and the Regional Council. It meets regularly and sets out guidelines for acquisition, analysis and applications received and decide on the entry of new parts in the fund. The proposals adopted by the technical committee must then be ratified by the Board....
