El Patio Herreriano has a collection of Spanish contemporary art from 1918 to the present. Its main functions are to show and explore contemporary art through specific projects and programs of temporary exhibitions as well as providing a reference and essential tool for studio and broadcast internationally. The museum is located in one of the cloisters of the Monastery of San Benito, the work of Juan de Ribero Rada, built in the Renaissance. The architects of the museum have been restored in an exemplary manner, providing the very wise set of interventions that provide the austerity and clarity enclosure compatible with the required functionality.

This project would not have been possible without the collaboration decided to conduct the City of Valladolid and the Association of Contemporary Art Collection. This private collection, which began in 1987, has transferred its funds freely allowing the project to reality. In turn, the city of Valladolid gives the museum building and the necessary resources and Patio Herreriano Foundation is to manage it. El Patio Herreriano developed a service to the citizens by preserving and enhancing its artistic heritage while teaching and seducing its visitors.
