Yin Xiuzhen

Yin Xiuzhen is a leading female artist in today´s China. She is an avantgarde installation artist, mirroring the environment around her. The artwork of Yin Xiuzhen reflects the living environment. She considers artwork as a means of communication to convey aspects of individual experiences in life in relation to global transformations. The exhibition in the Groninger Museum will give a extensive overview of the body of work of Yin Xuizhen, covering two floors of the museum.

For this upcoming exhibition Yin is currently working on a cityscape of Groningen entirely made from clothing previously worn by local citizens. The work is part of Portable Cities, a series of suitcases containing miniature cities, including Shanghai (2002), New York (2005), Berlin (2006) and Melbourne (2009). ( Groninger Museum)
