Like hardly any other German artist stands AR Penck for the renewal of painting in Germany. Already in the German Democratic Republic, Penck repeatedly addressed the relationship between the individual and society. After his expatriation in 1980, he creates with his unique style of abstracted figures and pictorial a universal vocabulary in which the memory of the beginning of the painting with the current time in modern history and science into a memorable image merges the world .. A reference point is the parallels between Penck characters and the world pictures of the Ice Age cave paintings.
