Allan Sekula deals with the critical economic, political, social and cultural changes in the globalized information society. His projects also revolve around a central question of current photography: how can the exchange in economic processes, relations artistic theme and present? In extensive photo deals Sekula cycles since the 1970s with the "iconography of work." From the tradition of American social photography in the 1930s of a Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans and her soulful, sentimental images Sekula develops its specific, highly politicized "social documentaries". Sekula has photography as a radical cultural practice, as a form of resistance, culture and politics together. Serene Sekula plays from his repertoire: Complete details, group portraits, still lifes, whole and half figures. He uses image pairs, doubling the motives and the content slightly, an image process, with the presentation of the consecutive presentation of different situations and ways of communication levels between the protagonists makes clear. Captions explaining the different motives, commentary and poetic texts formulate - with the incredibly colorful photographs - a sociological picture of scenes of work and their disappearance.
