| The paintings and ink drawings by Benedikt Hipp combine figurative and ornamental elements in front of a mostly dark background, which remains open, and as such does not define a specific space. In his painting subjects and objects often appear as a singular, introspective unity, abstract and representational elements are interlocked. In addition to the figures which always appear as "individuals", there is present a series of down to nowhere, but "be in a place" and "describe worry about a place." Also houses, tents and model-like factory-shrines revitalize those places. The art is defined as a reason for Hipp, farming and habitation and as a pictorial / visual synthesis of knowledge and experience.
