| Chen Zhen is one of those artists of the Chinese avant-garde in the mid-'80s the reform policies and the political repression in China turned its back. 1986 he emigrated to Paris, where he, after several years of artistic seclusion with the pioneering concept of "open sculpture" achieved international recognition. Chen Zhen has created a work which the utopia of persistent multi-cultural dialogue could take effect. His installations are poetic landscapes - interweaving material unusual alliances, hybrids, the passages and new routes between Far Eastern traditions and Western avant-garde movements produce. The self-chosen exile, his own illness and the traditional Chinese medicine to combine images metaphorical sense, he creates synergies disparate relations, the body of the society and re-measured. Chen Zhen artistic approach is very poetic and conceptual strength, but in person and on their own - after all, every artistic approaches resonance space of one's own biography, the analogy is a place where "cultural homelessness" and "spiritual runaway" merge with Far Eastern thinking.
