| Who does not know the white-red stripes by Daniel Buren. From the French artists' group BMPT, he has held andauernste fame. Since 1966, dedicated to Olivier Mosset, Michel Parmentier, Niels Torone Buren and the study of basic shapes such as circles, dot grid, horizontal stripes and vertical stripes. Exactly 8.7 centimeters wide "Buren Strip" in white and one color became a trademark. But Daniel Buren is not just a basic form. In his numerous interventions in public space, he explores the boundaries of art and visual perception. Here he develops his installations always "in situ", ie spot. Again and again allowed the artists to surprise you. In the courtyard of the Westfälische Landesmuseum in Munster, for example, he installed white stripes as a grid between the circumferential arcades. By the mirrored floor, he created a disturbing and fascinating region. Even in his work "The Eye Of The Storm", he presented a giant mirrored sculpture in the eye of the stairs Guggenheim Museum in New York. The stripes emerged from this light and shadow effect of the staircase of the museum galleries.
