| A body in space - straight lines, smooth surfaces. The effect: clear, cool, geometrically determined. An artist, but also an art critic and philosopher: Donald Judd in 1928 in Excelsior Springs (USA) and verstart born in 1994 in New York.
A bit like a rock in the surf Judds are sculptures in the middle of the room or as a mural on the wall affixed. They seem unimpressed by the environment in their geometry, but they reflect back. As space in the room, sometimes open, sometimes closed, a game from inside and outside. The sculptures are mostly rectangular cubes and the materials from plywood, plexiglass, metal, concrete but also in different monochrome color. Strictly geometrical, objective, exacting detail and in a perfection that is sometimes almost inaccessible acts, they are a main focus. The rest, which they radiate is sometimes almost unreal, and some even think about really. Judd is now often regarded as one of the main representatives of the Minimal Art means, whereas he had always defended. © ArtLogistics |
