At first glance, especially when one knows only the works of illustrations in publications, is assumed in Frank Gerritz a descendant of the minimum and Concept Art But as so often, such a first glance is all too one-dimensional. The works of Gerritz require more than any other oeuvre of contemporary art, the real viewing spot. His art claimed the live character of their own perception. Frank Gerritz is a sculptor, but this can be the basis of his sculptural ideas for years, primarily resulting images, which, however, play an expansive force. (Profile only availible in german - translated by machine) With the graphite a Faber-Castell Pen of the variety 9B, the artist lays layer upon layer on the smooth surface of industrially produced MDF panels. The different shadings leading to a precise line work that gives the picture a first structure. It is crucial that the geometric precision of these formations by the action of the graphite material in an entirely different level of perception is lifted: the applied graphite catches the light in each one completely new and different way. In the partially reflecting surfaces of MDF work, the viewer is making such an exciting journey of the gaze through a light-filled world of the supposed obscurity. In another work cycle Gerritz works with black paint stick directly on anodized aluminum. That the surfaces of these works provide a black and of piercing beauty and accuracy of a rigid duct concise yet leave room for the echo of lived experience which can not be placed in a measurable denominator, but in seeing only will be felt, even that is only experienced directly before the works in the exhibition. Especially for the exhibition at the Castle Frank Gerritz Weser has created a new wall drawing, as he has achieved in his previous works already in New York galleries and the Hamburger Kunsthalle. It works the artist directly with the graphite pencil on the wall of the exhibition space. In eleven days, was in collaboration with eleven assistant as the largest mural in the dimensions 160 x 900 cm, which is directly connected to the architectural space.
