| Georg Baselitz, born 1938 as Hans-Georg Kern in Deutschbaselitz / Saxony, continued in East Berlin 1957 started his studies in West Berlinund moved the following year for ever in the West. He participated in numerous international exhibitions: at the documenta 5 in Kassel, the XIII. Sao Paulo Biennial and the Venice Biennale. As the first German artists, he had live in 1995 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in a solo exhibition.
The imagery of Georg Baselitz fights categories and regularities. Typical of this hero in his paintings of the 60s, where his so-called "new types" as workers, herders or rebels in their heroic struggle with massive bodies fill the image. The picturesque dissolving form leads from 1966 to the fracture images, where images dissected into strips and set against each other and thus the image space set aside. Moreover, the motif loses by tearing and cutting more and more importance in 1969 and carries the image of the forest on the head motive for reversal, the internationally known Baselitz made. In his latest work, entitled Georg Baselitz Remix takes old themes and image formats, which it in its new form language. (Kunstverein Braunschweig) |
