| Johannes Esper is in fact someone who sets up traps: anyone following the clues about Minimal Art given by the surface qualities of his works will find him- or herself caught up in contradictions or better in "productive misunderstandings", as Esper prefers to call it. Even though industrial materials, forms that are often austere and reduced, and works covered with coats of monochrome paint suggest the object presence demanded by Minimal artists, these works are anything by specific objects.
