| (Profile only availible in german - translated by machine) The internationally renowned artist Lothar Baumgarten (born in 1944 in Rheinberg) has been working for over 30 years with the exchange between different cultures. By consistently addressing the issues of globalization, colonization and oppression and in detail deals with sciences like anthropology and biology, he has pioneered many approaches to art made that have high relevance today. The exhibition in the Museum Kurhaus Kleve, placing the emphasis on Lothar Baumgarten's analysis of the colonization of America, which was essentially characterized by the preoccupation with the work of Prince Johann Moritz von Nassau-Siegen (1604-1679) in Brazil. For the Museum Kurhaus Kleve Baumgarten will implement a new, long-planned work, the 17th on a series of eighty paintings of Brazilian birds the Century refers. These images were created by the Dutch painter Albert Eckhout 1653-1659, based on studies that he gleaned during his stay in South America with Johann Moritz.
