| Tony Cragg, actually Anthony Douglas Cragg was born 1949 in Liverpool and is one of the most important sculptors of the modern. His breakthrough came with works out of plastic objects he found, these he linked with natural materials. After major exhibitions, for example on several biennials in Venice, he had changed his way of working in the mid 80's.
He went back to the origins of sculpture, worked with bronze and wood.
The recipient of numerous prizes, including the Turner Prize does intend to create shortcuts in his work. He himself says
"If I do exhibitions, I try a network of relationships, sometimes I myself am surprised at the results. Then I have in mind to rethink everything, because all works are also thinking. " © ArtLogistics
