| Scenarios ostensibly pulsating metropolises, behind their facades are solitude, emptiness and boredom wide groomed make change in the films of the Chinese artist Yang Fudong with pictures and remote nature from meditative stillness. Odd pieces of Chinese tradition mixes with western influences homeless to an amalgam of love, melancholy and parody. Yang Fudong's films document the traces of the rapid political, economic and cultural development of China. They oscillate between intimacy and isolation, between superficial and quiet restlessness. The protagonists in films Yang Fudong try the balancing act between a Buddhist-dominated Confucian internalization, the cultural memory of the communist dressing and unsubstantiated Frenetik of modern capitalism. In between these worlds emerging cracks in schleust Yang Fudong and tries its contradictions with poetry, burlesque-comic elements, and simultaneously highlight pacify. Formal and content Yang Fudong leads us into the past and its traditions of Zen, martial arts and the aesthetic disciplines of poetry, painting and calligraphy back. He superimposed on it with the presence of the disoriented, isolated individual, which in an environment of repression, of beautiful form and the surface of a shrill mercantile usefulness thought his dignity to fight.
