The kestnegesellschaft will present an extensive showcase of the photographer Alice Springs in around 150 works created during the past forty years. The wife of Helmut Newton began to build up her own body of photographic work in 1970 under the pseudonym of Alice Springs . The list of artists, actors and musicians she has portrayed reads like a whos who of the international cultural scene of the past forty years on both sides of the Atlantic. Alice Springs not only documents the appearance of her famous or nameless contemporaries, she also captures their presence, sometimes even their aura. Her particular affinity to art and artistic personalities will be central to the Hanover exhibition, which will be put together in cooperation with the Helmut Newton Foundation, Berlin.
