The Fondation Beyelers exhibition of Jeff Koons (b. 1955) is the first ever to be presented in a Swiss museum. Likely the most famous living artist of all, for decades Koons has caused a furore with his inimitable works. On view are three central groups of works that represent crucial steps in Koonss development. These include the early, ready-made-like household appliances, the sculptures in porcelain and wood which have advanced to the status of post-modern icons, and the later monumental paintings and highly polished steel sculptures in which the artist celebrates childhood. In his equally spectacular and subtle pieces, Koons addresses such themes as innocence, beauty, sexuality and happiness.
