‘Matisse: Drawing Life’ is the most comprehensive exhibition of Henri Matisse ’s prints and drawings ever mounted. Presented in partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the exhibition includes more than 300 drawings, prints and illustrated books by one of the twentieth century’s greatest artists. Exploring the themes and subjects to which Matisse repeatedly turned throughout his long career, the exhibition provides insights into the artist’s daily drawing practice.

Curated exclusively for GOMA by Céline Chicha-Castex, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Prints, Bibliothèque nationale de France, and independent Paris-based curator Emilie Ovaere-Corthay, the exhibition brings together works from international, national and private collections to explore the extraordinary range and depth of Matisse’s engagement with the graphic mark. The exhibition has been designed by French artist Christophe Cuzin, who responds to Matisse’s palette.
