In 2005, the Galerie en passant formed as an open community of artists who first realized in changing commercial environment temporary exhibitions. 2007, the shop premises were occupied with their own character very well in the Highway 169 as a permanent location in Berlin-Mitte. The French term "en passant" can be with "in passing" and translated means, in a special chess game, offensively executed train a farmer. Herein, the sound initially nomadic existence of the gallery, open access to the public but also the targeted positioning of the producer's gallery in Berlin's art market. In the highly dynamic environment of the Fountain Street, the gallery in passing for the art audience has developed a fixed address.

Are now 16 international artists working in Berlin with a clear reference to the fixed master artists of the Galerie en passant. By their individual ways of working in the media diversity is emphasized. The artists usually organize in-house public-oriented shows, are excited by the visitors in the meeting with very different art to explore and reflect. The audience is sometimes playful, sometimes provocative to talk, to look and work can also be animated or seduced. The gallery serves to project implementation, as well as a network show and performance space for concerts, performances, lectures, artist talks, workshops, films, dance and theater pieces.

Deviating from the traditional producer gallery model, the incumbent often associations of young university graduates to serve as a springboard to commercial galleries, is the concept of Galerie en passant in a constructive and lasting relationship created (the artists are among the vintages from 1943 to 1981).
With the selected artists, the gallery programs will participate in art fairs, which specifically addressed to young galleries and projects, such as Contemporary Art Ruhr and Berlin list.
