Profile
Since 1983, the Regional Contemporary Art Funds have played a part in the history of cultural development in France, by asserting the role of art in the life of the country through children's educational programs, cultural activities involving research and leisure, and tangible knowledge helping with self-understanding and the understanding of others.
This is why the Burgundy FRAC proposes a whole host of encounters and work projects, aimed at helping towards a discovery of the works in the collection and the various exhibitions. Guided tours are accordingly organized for each exhibition and show, and a group service is available for anyone requiring it. These facilities are designed to create a true exchange among the questions, ideas and emotions all brought about by the works. Discussions are fuelled by a wide range of writings which may be consulted in the documenta tion centre. Catalogues, books and periodicals further help to widen lines of thinking, as do the publications regularly produced by the Burgundy FRAC with the artists in the collection.
The many joint ventures undertaken with schools help to formulate a service and courses for students. Training the eye and tangible knowledge are two elements at the heart of this class work. In order to prepare for their participation, information is regularly forwarded to teachers, and a discovery visit is proposed to them for every exhibition, in the presence of educational advisors and the representative teacher. In fact the latter helps for bonds between the various Burgundy FRAC projects and the educational goals of school programmes.
It is with an on-going concern for the open mindedness of the school in relation to creative activity and artists alike that the various experiments undertaken by the National Education Board are drawn up, as is attested to by the program reports.
