Javier López Gallery opened in London in June 1995 with a cutting edge program that included projects by Alix Lambert, the X-Art Foundation, Martin Creed, Simon Martin and Thomas Ruf f. In February 1996, the gallery moved to Madrid, where its aim is to present a program of both young and established artists, who are producing relevant and innovative work in different media. The gallery works and shows regularly with Hannah Collins , Liam Gillick , Peter Hall ey , Alex Katz , Matthew McCaslin , Igor Mischiyev, Tatsuo Miyajima , Jane Simpson, Hiroshi Sugimoto , Xavier Veilhan , Leo Villareal and José Mª Yturralde. Other artists invited to present installations of their work have included Nobuyoshi Araki , Jenny Holzer , Andreas Gursky, Jana Leo, Sarah Morris , Jack Pierson or Lorna Simpson as well as Victor Burgin, Robert Indiana , Donald Judd and Edward Ruscha, among others. This year, the gallery leaves its emblematic space in Manuel Gonzalez Longoria, but continues its regular exhibition schedule in the space of José Marañón, while the project by the Spanish arquitects Ignacio Vicens & J.A. Ramos for a new exhibition space is being realized.
