Kewenig The gallery was founded in 1986 as Jule Kewenig Gallery in Frechen near Cologne. The focus of the gallery is to convey the contemporary art since the late 60s. Here, the gallery is devoted to an international artists such as Marcel Broodthaers, Imi Knoebel , Bertrand Lavier , Giulio Paolini , Lois Renner , Ulrich Rückriem and Niele Toroni , whose art is self-referentially with their own forms of presentation techniques, content and deals. Another large group of artists who are represented by the gallery, encircled in its art history, their content, their timing and how to deal with it. These include inter alia Christian Boltanski, Hanne Darboven , Jannis Kounellis , Hendrik Kraw, Ian Hamilton Finlay and Panamarenko, which reviewed progress and faith in them. Primarily concerned with the nature and dealing with their circle represented the work of the Arte Povera artists Giovanni Anselmo, Mario Merz , Giuseppe Penone and doyen of the American James Turrell , which are also represented by the gallery. Among the younger artists in the gallery program includes Ivan Bazak , Kimsooja , Kirsten Ortwed and Lois Renner .

In the new premises in February 2003 based in the city of Cologne this successful collaboration will continue with the artists. The nearly 200 square meters exhibition space provides for large-scale installations and sculptures as well as for the hanging of paintings and photographs ideal. In the vaulted cellars are also exhibitions - shows - in particular, light installations, video works and installations, space-related.

In June 2004 Jule opened Kewenig sculptures by Mark Lüpertz Galeria Kewenig in Palma de Mallorca. Here are exhibited alongside younger artists in the exhibition program of Kewenig gallery too old masters such as Baselitz, Immendorff and Knoebel.

Recently, the newly renovated San Feliú oratory in the old town of Palma, the new seat of the Galeria is Kewenig. The Romanesque-style chapel stands out clearly designed by a generous interior space. The history of the building is closely linked with the history of Mallorca: In the early 13 Century, the Balearics by James I of Aragon conquered and pushed back the ruling until then Moors. In the course of the associated Rechristanisierung the island called Jacob built the church in honor of the patron San Feliu.
