FRISCH is an experiment. A private exhibition space has established itself in close proximity to international galleries and within the new gallery centre behind Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum for contemporary art. The experiment is the brainchild of Berlin art collector Dr Harald Frisch.

Name and function are the same - FRISCH - 'fresh' in German - will be a forum for predominantly new trends in art whilst also connecting with important developments in the history of art.

FRISCH was founded first and foremost to promote artists' work. Dr Harald Frisch has been a patron for more than 30 years, as a collector of art. Now he is going beyond that, with exhibitions and related publicity work. A catalogue accompanies the exhibitions and there is a strong element of cross linking with collectors, gallery owners, curators, institutions and museums.

The choice of artists whose work will be shown is not restricted to those artists in Harald and Kornelia Frisch's collection. Only in terms of art historical interest are parts of the collection, which dates back to the sixties, included in the exhibitions.

FRISCH should be seen as a private exhibition space with a strong focus on patronage of the arts. Nevertheless, some of the works will be available for purchase, in order to support the artists and to cover the running costs of the space.
