Profile

(Profile only availible in german - translated by machine)

The Leonhardi Museum is a special place for encounters with art. The connection to the artistic legacy of Eduard Leonhardi s ensures that the teaching of contemporary art here is given a spiritual reconnection that you miss in the enthistorisierten, so to speak, "ambiente free" exhibition contexts of art galleries and white-cube architecture often. From this aural space advantage, we must proceed in principle, not least because the place was by the will of its founder, created as a support facility for young art already.

The aspect of the constitution of the universal from the Regional is decisive for our work. We want to trace the manifold interactions between artists and the city. An example of this, the exhibition is to reopen the building in 2003 with work by Hermann Glöckner: Glöckner work is rooted in the region, but has, moreover, it is varied, but never arbitrary; unspectacular and economy in the form and means, but rich in effect, it is collecting, not distraction. In this sense it may be entitled to the work of our house.
