Place

The former colliery Grand Hornu, chosen in 1991 to host the MAC's, is one of the most beautiful sites of industrial archeology in Europe. Neo-classical architecture refers to the utopian principle of 'working city ideal "as had been imagined in France, Nicolas Ledoux. It was also at one of its rivals, the architect Tournai, Bruno Renard its founder, Captain Henri De Gorge company entrusted the realization of his visionary project. City project including mining industrial complex, a city worker and a residence for directors, the Grand Hornu erected between 1810 and 1830 is with the Salines d'Arc and Senan in France, one of the most impressive evidence of organization work in architecture. Converted into accord with its history and identity of places together several human activities, it has gradually become 90 years from a pole of tourism, culture and science. Alongside the Grand Hornu Images that greets visitors to the site and organizes various events - including exhibitions of applied arts and design - and Technocity institution dedicated to teaching computer science, the MAC's is a natural place .
