ProfileThe Museu Fundación Juan March is housed in a 17th-century mansion known as the Can Gallard des Canyar. Originally built as a residence, it was remodeled in the early 20th century and reconfigured as a museum in 1990. It was then that the museum placed on view a selection of artworks from the Spanish contemporary art collection of the Fundación Juan March , which included works by the most important artists of the early 20th-century vanguards, mid-century artistic movements and recent generations. In 2009, the collection was joined by a permanent new gallery devoted to the graphic work of Pablo Picasso. The museum also has special exhibition galleries that feature the work of artists represented in the collection as well as exhibitions dedicated to contemporary artists and major modernist trends. The Fundación Juan March , created in 1955 by the Majorcan financier Juan March Ordinas, is an active family and cultural institution dedicated to the humanities and science. It organizes exhibitions, concerts, lecture series and seminars and also administers the Museo de Arte Abstracto Español in Cuenca, and Museu Fundación Juan March in Palma. represented artists |
