Profile

The Rijksmuseum Twenthe (1930) has a wide and varied collection of art and applied art from the Middle Ages up to the present day.
The museum wants to provide a space in which the visitor can walk through the history of art. The walk presents a clear and concise overview and at the same time allows the visitor to enjoy artworks from various periods.
Each year the museum organises on average ten exhibitions, for which the museum collection is the main starting point.
The museum collection is sustained and grows through acquisitions, donations, bequests and long-term loans.
The utmost care and attention is given to the some 8000 objects that constitute the collection. Conservation and restoration in the museum are of a high standard.
The museum collaborates with fellow institutes in the Netherlands and other countries, and with cultural and social organisations in its own region
The museum has an active education programme through which it strives to be a source of inspiration for future visitors.
