Sammlung Rheingold

"Rheingold" is the title of a collection of contemporary art that will be built in close cooperation with five major museums and exhibition halls in the Rhineland. In 2001, six collectors have come together to acquire more than once per year to several groups of works by contemporary artists. The work groups are compiled in consultation with the artists. Rheingold will not represent the entire spectrum of contemporary art scene, but deliberately set priorities. Collecting means for "Rheingold" to make decisions and the artists who are gathered, to take seriously. Rheingold believes that the collection of the artists represented in the collection, only be a good partner, if they can be given the opportunity to present themselves with various aspects of their work.

The quality of the acquisitions guaranteed an advisory board whose members are the directors of the cooperating museums. The collection focuses on forward positions of contemporary art in the fields of painting, sculpture, photography and video art.
