The israeli artist Yael Bartana (born 1970) is compared to their home country, the position of a distanced observer-critical one. Your interest is - as the artist - on the mechanisms of a state, an ideology and lays down the individual, this applies. Bartanas video works in stunning photography question the constitution of the national and cultural identity of Israel, especially through its rituals and representations, such as the pervasive militarization as part of the self-understanding of the country and reveal deeper meanings of everyday events, religious or social origin, related to the Israeli context, but also transferable to other contexts.
