Jürgen Klauke: New Edition for 1400 €

"It is amazing what a work Jürgen Klauke has created, "says Anita Beckers, who accompanied the photographer for many years and exhibited in her gallery," and at the same it is incredible how low he is judged on the art market."
On the occasion of the exhibition at the Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, Innsbruck Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman has edited a new work of Klauke. It costs  only 1,400 € until 31.10. 2010.

Jürgen Klauke: Attraktiver Attraktor 2006/2010, Lambdaprint, 50 x 60 cm, 30 + 5 AP, Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman Edition 2010, in Cooperation with EIKON, subscription price: € 1.400,-

In fact, relevant databases show as highest price in an auction for the early 90's typical three-part photographic work "external suggestion", which had cost at Lempertz in Cologne in 2006 just € 41,000 plus auction fees. And databases can also betray that of eleven so far in auctions this year offered work Klauke's just one was struck. At the same time photographic art by far less important contemporary artists achieved five-to six-figure prices.
However, the phase of strong under-valuation could end soon. One reason is the increased attention of the artist in advance of his 70th birthday. New is primarily his soloshow "Aesthetic paranoia" at the ZKM in Karlsruhe, which closes October third and then is shown at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg Mönchsberg.

Profile:
The body is his stage: A person can choose almost any number of forms freely, consciously decide how he or she performs and what this implies appearance. This play with their own (sexual) identity, which is expressed through the body and an individual performance, has introduced in the 1943 Kliding at Cochem on the Mosel born Jürgen Klauke first in the artistic discourse. "The Cologne-based artist in the area made of body art and critical engagement with socially normalized gender identities and social behavior is groundbreaking in art history", sums up the Museum der Moderne Salzburg.

In advance of his 70. birthday the attention on Klauke's photo works is increasing dramatically
