The tone is becoming an increasingly substantial part of their work. The artist duo Jennifer Allora, born in 1974 in Philadelphia (USA), and Guillermo Calzadilla, who was born in 1972 in Havana (Cuba) joined in 1995 and lives and works of Porto Rico. The sound can and should expand her paintings, is attention-grabbing and its volume has sometimes frightened. Thematically, the two of them deal primarily with the topic of militarism, war and its social impact. In most large installations combine the design and spatial acoustic impression. The noises are often the very medium of the work. A trumpet heralds the beginning of the end, a whistle disturbs the (deceptive) resting at the newspaper reading and deafening marching from all over the country makes to a bunker-like room installation to an acoustic discomfort. Allora & Calzadilla, and want to articulate a position, but are not striking but sometimes even a twinkle in her eye make visible and audible.
