Doug Aitken - Profile

Doug Aitken, 1968 in Redondo Beach, California, was born, is busy in his work with the relationship of man to his environment. In order to make clear he shows loneliness, emptiness and abandonment primarily in urban areas. His video installations, giving it a veritable cult of stardom have provided, leaving the viewer a vague melancholy that the transience of places without people apparently seem deprived of their usefulness. A wide public was accessible Aitken 1999, when he was with his work, "Electric Earth" at the Venice Biennale International Prize. Aitken's installations are not simply projections masterfully filmed and cut stories, but also walkable spaces in which the viewer moves seen and loses an eye. Aitken works move between pop culture and media art and play is not rare to unusual projection surfaces, such as arising from his 2007 film "Sleepwalkers", which he on the facade of the MoMA in New York City projected. In addition to video installations, Aitken has also worked as a photographer. He lives and works in Los Angeles. © ArtLogistics
