Giovanni Anselmo - Profile
From 1966, Giovanni Anselmo was one of the Italian Arte Povera artists. The materials he used included granite, wood, metal, anthracite, leaves, meat and fluorescent lighting, which he combined to create sharp contrasts. Natural processes and phenomena such as gravity and magnetism often play an important part in the effect the materials have on each other. In the seventies Anselmo also made use of language, with written, projected, filmed and photographed words bridging the gap between idea and image. S.M.A.K. owns the work Â'TorsioneÂ' (1968) by Giovanni Anselmo. (S.M.A.K Gent)
