| Kenneth Anger, born in 1927 in Santa Monica, California, has influenced the underground cinema with his films. His work contributed to the spread of pop culture and gay iconography. Anger is one of the last living film legends who can still bear witness of the decadence of the old Hollywood; a knowledge he could provide for the be public with biggest economic success, with the tell-all book "Hollywood Babylon (1959). But Angers reputation, however comes from his vast film work. "Fireworks" (1947) is counted as his first own film. This was followed by nine more, longer films, including "Scorpio Rising" (1964) and "Invocation of My Demon Brother" (1969), in addition to those he produced, many more short films about three to four minutes. Kenneth Angers pictures and scenes are full of his obvious devotion to the teachings of Aleister Crowley, the magician and occultist of the early 20th Century. Anger is still follower of Crowley's religion "Thelema" and mounted his films strictly to the rules of his doctrine, which is why the films of Kenneth Anger can certainly be considered as his cinematographic manifestations of his own occult believes. Kenneth Anger did not produce films for a time now he started again, including e.g."Mouse Heaven" (2005).
