Markus Lüpertz is one of the figureheads of an art which, despite all the dogmas and fashions always go on "traditional" repeatedly declared dead painting stick. His pictures are consistently certificates tremendous vitality and strength - in the tension between monumental earthing and fine Ornamentalität coupled with the timeless beauty of classical painting. Lüpertz sees the early 1960s with the dominant art movements of the figurative and Pop Art Abstract Expressionism confronted. His answer to both lies in the seemingly incompatible synthesis of subject and abstraction. Nevertheless, on the canvas Lüpertz never illustrate stories or even moral, but can rise to the challenge, "subjects occupied" picturesque "charge" or compositional strategies of the "old masters" from Poussin to Cézanne on Picasso's style means. He sees himself as "abstract painting", without the strict guidelines of the non-formal painting having to be tied. Grids, monochrome surface, informal or tree of color and figure, as in his more recent images, are considered equivalent formal solutions for image of the picturesque par excellence processed - often in an overall composition.
