Richard Tuttle - Profile |
| Richard Tuttle (born 1941 in Rahway, lives and works in New York and New Mexico), was educated at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut since 1965 and is carrier of various awards. Characteristic of his objects and drawings are poetic-looking shapes and colors, also from the variety of different materials used to result from such an intense confrontation of the artist with the architecture of each exhibition venue. Tuttle works are sometimes brittle and fragile and, due to substances used as wood, paper or wire, a fleeting character. Richard Tuttle is not "perfection" is interested in the traditional sense, but he tries "to do something that looks like it yourself." This explicit requirement of immediacy of the work requires an ability of the sensitized 1nehmung. Although the sculptures are sometimes able to give the impression that they are seemingly random in an exhibition space have been placed, however, is exactly the opposite is the case. The artist gives to each of his works extremely precise Installtionsanweisungen, which take into account every detail meticulously. (Gallery Schmela, Dusseldorf) |
