| Since the mid-70s, Graham has a wealth of different media such as film, photography, installation, painting, printmaking, literature and music, a multi-faceted oeuvre. In his work, the multifarious connections between the various levels of everyday life and the cultural history of an important role. Works from all eras, the visual arts, music or literature and intellectual history events are investigated and found their echo in between reality and fiction changing work. Pop culture as cinematic clichés and again music is one of the most important sources not only substantive issues, but also structural patterns and shapes in Graham's works inspire. This can go so far as that it the work of other artists through their own additions expanded: So he added a passage to Edgar Allan Poe "Landor's Cottage", created a series of sculptures based on the work of Donald Judd or composing a directly related to Wagner's Parzival song . Several Rodney Graham's work relate to the writings of Sigmund Freud. His use of the term "Allotrion" as drift or newly decided path meets the originality with which Graham's cultural history in the broadest sense weiterdenkt.
