Wim Delvoye - Profile

The Belgian artist Wim Delvoye is for his conceptual work beyond all matters of taste famous - and notorious. It represents our entire value system into question, by the 1990s tattooed pigs or machine designed to simulate human digestion processes and real faeces for the sale of produce ( "Cloaca", various versions from 2000). Delvoye hand, ornamented Gothic sculptures of giant excavators and construction equipment, on a scale of 1:1, leading aesthetic patterns of perception and expectations absurdity. A little bit of it is as if in his works the nightmares a hochverbildeten culture junkies take shape. Advertising and product aesthetics go Delvoye working with physically-realistic and natural to give a complete synthesis irritating one. The glossy world of consumerism, not least the cultural and art consumption in a capitalist market laws frönenden, is perfidious manner repressed conditions of the physicality and mortality confronted. This results in Delvoye installations, with a high degree of irony, wit and humor shocking insights on the empty void of human activity and action in an era of limitless venality mediate. Wim Delvoye, born 1965, lives and works in Ghent, Belgium. © ArtLogistics
