Born in Tehran, Iran, Abbas Akhavan has been living in Canada since 1992 receiving a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. His background in Art History and Visual Arts has taken his artistic practice through a variety of mediums including painting, installation, video/performance and site-specific ephemeral work.

Conceived as an exhibition space for postwar German modernism, the Kunsthaus Dahlem will open to the public in summer 2015 in Berlin, Germany. It will present exhibitions and programs that explore modern German art from the post-war era (1945 to 1961). In addition to its exhibitions, on-site and online programs will reinforce its role as a center for research and scholarship. All activities are designed to engage artists, writers, students, scholars and a wide public audience.

In April the Board of the Founders of Fondazione Museion confirmed Letizia Ragaglia as director of the museum for the next four years. Curator at various institutions, Ragaglia (1969, I), who is specialised in museology and contemporary art, with a particular focus on art in public spaces, has been heading Museion since 2008.

Art Price Rise at $175 Million Auction Puts Market Back at Peak

Dealers hailed a recovery in the market for contemporary art last night after the biggest auction held in London.
The 88-lot Sotheby's London (BID) sale raised 108.8 million pounds ($175 million), helped by 60.4 million pounds for 34 works from the Duerckheim Collection of German art.
