Raymond Pettibon awarded the Oskar Kokoschka Prize for 2010.

The US-American artist Raymond Pettibon was born in 1957 in Tucson, Arizona as Raymond Ginn. First, he studied economics and mathematics, but then decided for the artistic work. He illustrated fanzines, more than 100 homemade booklet in A5 format, which are now traded as high rarities. They were distributed over the record company of his brother Greg Ginn. He was a larger audience through the design of record covers for punk bands like Black Flag, Minutemen, Sonic Youth, or unknown.

Also for Heinz Mack's lamellar relief from 1961 the hammer fell at six times the estimate. It was similar to works by Otto Piene, Jan Schoonhoven, etc.

Sotheby's: Good Start into the season 2010

LONDON, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2010 -- Tonight at Sotheby’s, Alberto Giacometti’s L’homme qui marche I (Walking Man I) sold for £65,001,250 / $104,327,006 /€74,185,983 becoming the most expensive work of art ever sold at auction. The sale of that work was swiftly followed by that of Gustav Klimt’s Kirche in Cassone, which made £26,921,250 / $43,208,606/€30,725,246 – a new record price for a landscape by the artist.

Ai Weiwei: Visitor record since 1995 in Munich HdK

The contemporary art exhibition in Munichs HdK "Ai Weiwei. So Sorry" ended on th 17th January 2010, and it was one of the most visited art exhibitions in "Das Haus der Kunst -HDK" ever since "The never-seen masterpieces from the Barnes Collection" (1995).
